Wash N Zip Pet Bed Review and Giveaway

If you have been around a little while, you may already be aware, Dexter is a SMELLY dog that has an aversion to taking a bath. This has become a huge issue for me because he likes to rub his funk all over everything and his previous bed became very gross, very fast. I ended up switching him from a bed to just a blanket and every time I washed it the entire inside of the washing machine would be covered in his hair; which is a nightmare because I use a shared laundry at my apartment and I have to pay to wash clothes. Not to mention this blanket was made out of some weird almost acrylic feeling fabric and it came out of the washing machine completely dry. I'm sure if I had put it in the dryer it would have melted. I imagine this wasn't a comfortable solution for Dex because he would sleep on my bed more than his own.
I decided it was time to try something new so why not try a washable pet bed? Normally when you try to wash a bed, you remove the cover and the actual base of the bed never gets cleaned. That means the smell stays along with dirt and bugs and eventually you have to replace the bed. Well with the Wash 'N Zip Pet bed you are able to wash the entire bed without having to worry about whether it will fit in your machine or if it will be truly clean.
The Wash 'N Zip bed actually opens up into a blanket that can be used as a car set cover, or in Dexter's case, a nest he can bury himself in. The bed has a super soft leopard print top, which I find to be absolutely adorable! The zipper is a heavy duty zipper that holds really well. The length folds down twice to make for extra padding and when opened up allows it to fit in the washing machine easily while simultaneously cleaning the entire bed, inside and out.
The true test for durability has been letting Dex have this bed for a full week before washing it. He tried to dig through it, bite it, rolled on it, pulled it around the room (or tried to), and slept on it. One week later it was pretty nasty. Not an inch of it wasn't covered in his hair. It also was emitting a special kind of odor that only a Dexter could produce. A quick run through the wash and it came out clean and like new. They are designed to take many runs through the wash so I wasn't surprised to find nothing wrong with it. I decided to not zip it back up and just lay it on the floor for Dex and he burrowed inside instantly.

The best part about the bed is having the option to have it as a padded bed, or as a blanket and I think it was pretty clear how Dexter preferred it. I ended up stuffing the unzipped Wash 'N Zip in his crate and he started dragging toys in there and sleeping. This may not seem like a big deal, but he actually hasn't set foot in his crate in over 6 months because he didn't like the old bed that was in there.
All in all I am thrilled with Dexter's new bed and he is clearly thrilled with his new bed as well! There is nothing about this that I do not absolutely love!
Finding the perfect bed for your pet can be a challenge because you have to find a way to balance comfort, price, and how often and how well you can clean it and I really do believe they have hit the mark. This may be one of the only beds I will ever want for Dexter, as this one should last for years and if I ever need to replace it, I know what I will replace it with!

  1. I have one in a large for my dogs but my cat Sam would need a small one.

  2. I would choose the medium for my dog. She does occassionally spill her food or water and get messy, so it is great to have a nice, washable bed. Thanks!

  6. I need the medium. I washable bed would be great because my dog loves to roll in stinky stuff such as mud, deer poop and whatever else he can find.

  7. Now that its summer and nice and hot Bodhi goes and rolls in the dirt twice a day, covers himself so he looks like a ghost dog. So I would need a LARGE bed that I can wash because I have to give him a bath once or twice a day and even then hes still dirty anyways.

  9. I need a medium or a large. I have 3 dogs who all flop all over the dog beds so you can imagine if I don't wash them often, they smell like Fritos.

  13. I would love a medium bed. My dogs love getting smelly and dirty by rolling on dead slugs, raccoon and cat pee, etc. so a washable pet bed would be great!

  15. I'd go with the medium size for my Ashley. We were camping in Michigan's UP one summer and our pup found a pile of bear crap to roll in. We were staying at a rustic campground, so I had to force her into Lake Superior to give her a bath because there was no way she was gonna get into our tent stinking like she was. I had to do it twice it was so bad, but I think she forgave me for the freezing cold bath.
